The U.S. Deep State's Campaign to Break India: A Critical Analysis

The geopolitical landscape between India and the United States is fraught with tension, as recent events suggest a concerted effort by the U.S. "deep state" to undermine India's sovereignty and strategic interests. This analysis delves into the current events and the underlying motives behind the U.S.'s actions, which threaten to destabilize India's political and economic stability.

Economic Warfare: Tariffs and Trade Disputes

The U.S. has imposed significant tariffs on Indian exports, with President Trump announcing a 25% tariff on Indian goods, effective August 7, 2025. This move, described as "unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable" by India's Ministry of External Affairs, is part of a broader strategy to coerce India into aligning with U.S. interests

The tariffs, coupled with threats of additional penalties, are designed to pressure India into reducing its dependence on Russian oil and military equipment, despite the strategic and economic benefits such partnerships provide

Political Interference and Regime Change Operations

The U.S. deep state's influence extends beyond economic measures, as evidenced by allegations of political meddling. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the U.S. State Department and "deep state" elements of working with investigative journalism platforms like OCCRP and figures such as George Soros to destabilize India. These accusations are not unfounded, given the historical record of U.S. intelligence agencies using similar tactics in other countries

The targeting of Indian tycoon Gautam Adani and the BJP's charges against the Gandhi family for allegedly teaming up with Soros further highlight the depth of this interference

Strategic Realignment: India's Response

In response to these pressures, India has begun to realign its strategic partnerships. The country has strengthened ties with Moscow and Beijing, seeking to counterbalance the U.S.'s aggressive stance. This shift is a direct result of the U.S.'s tariffs and the broader geopolitical strategy aimed at isolating India

By drawing closer to Russia and China, India is asserting its independence and refusing to be bullied into submission by the U.S. deep state.

The Role of NGOs and Media Houses

The U.S. deep state's influence in India is also evident in the extensive network of NGOs and media houses that have been funded and weaponized to discredit the Indian government. These entities, often backed by U.S. interests, have played a crucial role in attempting to sway public opinion and undermine the legitimacy of India's democratic processes

The Open Society Foundations (OSF) and other similar organizations have been particularly active in this regard, using their resources to promote narratives that align with U.S. foreign policy objectives

Conclusion

The current events in India reflect a concerted effort by the U.S. deep state to break India's strategic independence and align it more closely with U.S. interests. Through economic warfare, political interference, and the manipulation of public opinion, the U.S. is attempting to reshape India's geopolitical landscape. However, India's response—strengthening ties with Russia and China and asserting its sovereignty—demonstrates a resolve to resist these external pressures and chart its own course in the global arena. As these tensions continue to unfold, it remains to be seen whether India can maintain its strategic autonomy in the face of such formidable opposition.
